SSL CERTIFICATE – WHAT IS IT?
SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer, a global standard security technology that enables encrypted communication between a web browser and a web server.
DO I NEED ONE FOR MY SITE??
This is not easy to answer. Traditionally, an SSL certificate was only needed if your site handled financial transactions. However, as the web changes and evolves, so do the requirements of those internet giants we have come to depend on, i.e. Google, Microsoft, etc.
Google has recently rolled out a new requirement for their Chrome browser that if you don’t have an SSL certificate, the visitors to your website will get a notice in the address bar that the connection is NOT SERCURE! This is because Google has become the front runner in making your web experience safer.
HOW DO I GET AN SSL CERTIFICATE?
Digital Nomad Studio buys SSL certificates in bulk, so we can pass the savings onto our clients. We will include the cost for an SSL certificate in our quote to you. Our web developers will take care of installing the necessary code and updating the server for your site, so visitors will no longer see the header, “NOT SECURE.”
